Room Data Sheets and Synchronizing With Revit
Room data sheets are organized overviews that provide the necessary information for specific types of rooms. They are typically developed during the briefing (or architectural programming in the US) phase of a design plan and help to clarify the client’s requirements for each space type. They can be used to create specifications that help contractors and design teams understand what is expected from each space and how to make sure that any proposed solution meets the needs of the client.
Typically, room data sheets are designed by architects and members of the design team, including engineers and interior designers. They are still in the process of being created and can remain an “living document” until the client has ratified the final design of the architectural. The data on the room sheets can be synchronized to the Revit model through a process called backfilling. This method of verifying will help make sure that the data for the room accurately reflects the specifications in the final model and also identify any discrepancies between the two.
The Room Data Sheets component in BriefBuilder allows you to easily create room data sheets and then use them to integrate with the Revit model. It comes with a template set and pre-programmed select lists of electrical and structural disciplines and HVAC and plumbing. It also allows for the inclusion of thumbnail size images and graphics for each discipline.
The component is easy to use and doesn’t require any special setup. It is able to load configurations that have previously been saved, which reduces the amount of time in setting up. It also allows for features like size, browser organization and names to be defined for each view that is created.
